Diabetes / This website is for you.

The website is to help you with your journey to a better quality of life living with Diabetes.

This website is for you.

My name is Wayne Drury, Damndiabetes, and I have got it. Diabetes hit me right between the eyes after my doctor said, “We might as well test for diabetes.

He nailed it; no more lower blood sugar for me without what I immediately decided was the need to carry on my own diabetes research to learn what would be the best treatment for diabetes for me.

Starting with a glucose reading of 8.0, and my A1C was 8.3, frustration set In to start. I did not know what I could or could not eat. And there was no one to talk to about how to cure diabetes.

That is where I now come in for you. I do not want anyone to feel frustrated at not knowing what to do. I am here for you and only an email away. Please don’t be shy; I want to help you with your treatment of diabetes; together, we can sort out your diabetes diet and get you on a journey to a better quality of life living with diabetes.

I Knew About Carbs

I had enough sense to decide that I had to stay away from carbohydrates like potatoes, rice and bread, and as my wife said, I felt like I was turning into a rabbit with all the vegetables I was eating. But, not knowing too much, that was a good place to start.

The Measuring Device

What saved me from insanity was discovering the Libre 2 glucose sensor and monitor. After about two months of pricking my finger up to a dozen times per day, I ordered my first Libre 2 sensor.

The finger prick method is all right for periodic checking of your glucose levels, but to do a serious job on your journey to a better quality of live living with diabetes, I cannot strongly recommend enough that you get the Libre 2 sensor. The reader is not required as the system works quite well with an Apple or Android phone.

I will describe in a later video all the features of the Libre 2 sensor; suffice to say, I would never go back to pricking my finger again.

Where am I today with Diabetes research and living?

I am well along my journey to a better quality of life, living with diabetes. I have lost 6 Kg, and I am on my way to dropping 10 Kg.Body fat is one of the worst things for diabetics and a topic for another video. The trick is to lower blood sugar with a change in diet, and I have “little bites” of exercise with my daily routine.

If I can do it, you can too. I am here to help as my doctor said, “You have a choice to make – that being which path do you want to take? Do you want to take the path that gives you the potential for a very short life? Or do you choose the way that takes you on the journey to a better quality of life, living with diabetes?

I chose the journey to a better quality of life. What about you? I hope you choose my path, but that is your choice.

If I can help, drop me an email, and we will connect.

Best wishes from Damndiabetes.ca, where our goal is to help people to a better quality of life living with diabetes.
